Sensei David has studied in martial arts since 1993 starting in Kenpo, and in 2003 he joined a dojo at Shady Grove church that taught Matsumura Seito Shorin Ryu. A prior service US Marine, Brian also served six years as a chaplain with the Texas Guard. At various times he has also worked as a law enforcement officer, served as a municipal fire chief (EMT), and held elected office on a city council. Other training and experience include various systems of kobudo, including being a founding member of the Kodokan Kobudo Association in Denver, under the guidance of Kimo Wall.He has operated dojos in Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, and now Florida. During the intervening years his Shorin-Ryu training has continued with various senior American students of those Okinawans who were known students of Hohan Soken. Additional instruction during his teen years was done in Nisei Goju-Ryu under Clifton Diggs, Aikido under Gakku Homma, and training in Taoist Tai-Chi.In 1987 he began training in Matsumura Seito Shorin-Ryu Karate, and Kobudo, in the Kenshin-Kan Association of Kise Fusei. Original instruction was in the ITF/USTF under Mike Winegar. Sensei Brian Reagan holds a 4th Dan in Matsumura Shorin Ryu form the Kobukan and has been practicing in the martial arts formally since the age of 12.
